My GoDaddy Cash Parked Domains Update
Over March and April, I mad $12.52 from my cash-parked domain names. Most of the money came from a domain name that used to be an online retail store that I owned.
As the April numbers show, the income from that URL have gone down. Probably because people have noticed that the store is no more, and perhaps some incoming links were removed from referring sites.
Some figures:
REVENUE:
March 2008 Revenue Earned*: $9.10
RPM**: $11.14TOTAL DOMAIN SUMMARY:
Active Domain Count: 113
And,
REVENUE:
April 2008 Revenue Earned*: $3.42
RPM**: $12.95TOTAL DOMAIN SUMMARY:
Active Domain Count: 116
So, what did I do in March and April that increased the income?
Well, first there’s that URL for the online store that had some existing back links.
Out of the 116 domains I have parked, only 10 domain names are actually configured. By configured I mean setup with a theme other than the dull default theme and also have keywords. Every configured domain name got hits except for one. Obviously, if you got cash parked domains take the time to set them up with keywords and a theme. I have 100+ domains to do this on. Having said that, I also have to mention that a couple cash generating domain names were on the default theme and did not have any keywords. The domains however were good ones and contained city names.
My final note on this is this. We usually think of publicizing and gaining back links on active websites. Cash parked domains are not that different, the same rule applies. I found that gaining links back to my parked domain URLs drove traffic and also got the newer domains indexed with search engines. I strongly recommend you publicize your parked domain names and work to gain some back links.
My developed (non cash-parked) sites however, even the simple ones, continue to outperform the cash parked in generating income.
The experiment continues, I will optimize, configure, publicize, wait and report back to you here.
Meanwhile, should you have suggestions you would like me to try on my parked domains go ahead and leave a comment.
Thanks
