Renting Your Domain Name

If someone comes to you and offers cash to rent subdomains, subdirectories, or pages from you, I recommend you say no. This could hurt the value of your domain name and it’s search engine ranking.

If the person you rent to misbehaves or creates spam; this could easily trash your domain name reputation.

On the other hand, you’d be making cash by renting the domain name, and having content created for it. If this content is valuable then you’re in a win-win situation.

If you want to rent a domain, and if you can have the power to regulate what content is created, then you may be in for a good deal. The tough part is having the power/authority to control how your rented domain is used.

Any thoughts?
