If you’re like me and use Google analytics for all your domain names, you may have noticed some irregularities a couple weeks ago. Google Analytics is one of the best free tools that Google has, I have about 15 websites being tracked by Analytics and I love it.

Not to worry though, the service is back up and functioning perfectly. I mean, it’s FREE people, so the fact that it works and offers as much as it does is pretty awesome.

google analyticsI honestly do not expect any users to shun away from Google analytics for that glitch. In fact, if you don’t use analytics I recommend you start utilizing the e-commerce functionality within Google Analytics.

To document the extent of the damage, an official dashboard notice stated, “Google Analytics experienced a data processing error from April 30th to May 5th. Almost all of the data has been recovered and is currently being reprocessed. The recovered data will be reflected in your reports within a few days. Please note that a small percentage of data, particularly in the area of e-commerce reporting, was not recoverable from those dates.”

Users noticed the issue early on, before the official announcement was made. A discussion on this issue was started by users on the WebmasterWorld Forums on May 6th.

For whatever it’s worth, the Google Analytics Team also assured users, “We sincerely apologize for this processing issue and are taking every precaution to prevent such disruptions from occurring again in the future.”
